Impulse Neuro-Controller – The newest must have peripheral?

First of all, what is it and where did it come from?

The Impulse Neuro-Controller is essentially a glove which reacts to your neuro signals and translates them into a left or right click. What this means is that this piece of kit can recognise your action to shoot in an FPS game before the mouse registers it, reducing response times by up to 80 milliseconds. That’s almost 50% of the average!

Designed by leading researchers at the University of Waterloo, Canada, the innovative team have already harnessed over $350,000 (£250,000) in VC funding and secured partnerships with a full-stack manufacturing team and hardware development team.

Could this be the new norm for professional eSports players?

eSports teams already heavily invest in their players, from the fastest refresh rates and processing speeds, to the vigorous training that they receive from their coaching staff.

This could be the latest must have piece of tech for these teams, especially for FPS games such as Counter Strike where shooting a fraction of a second faster could make the difference in winning a £1 million prize pool.

What do you think of it?

I for one am definitely intrigued by the idea and what impact this will have on the wider gaming market. Hopefully this leads to many other budding entrepreneurs to follow in their footsteps and take competitive gaming to a whole other level.
